With the Supreme Court all set to hear the pleas regarding article 35 A on Monday, separatist leaders – Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Omer Farooq and Yasin Malik – who toe the line of Pakistan over Kashmir issue have dared the Court for delivering a verdict against the State Subject Laws of Jammu and Kashmir. The separatist leaders have said that Kashmir will turn into Palestine in case there laws were interfered with.The separatist leaders have also asked Kashmiri people to launch mass agitation “if the Supreme Court delivers verdict against the interests and aspiration of people of state”, saying that any move to tinker with state subject law will create Palestine like situation.
In a joint statement the separatist leaders asked people to be ready for protest against any amendment or change in the State Subject laws. They said the plan to tinker with the Article 35 A, which gives special rights and privileges to the natives of Jammu and Kashmir, “is a conspiracy to create a Palestine like situation in the state”.Yasin Malik said that the conspiracy has been hatched to change the demography of the Muslim majority state and added if the state-subject law is removed or any amendment introduced, people from other states of India will purchase land in Jammu and Kashmir and a Palestine like situation will arise. The leaders also appealed the lawyers, writers, scholars and other members of society to make people aware of the consequences of proposed repealing of state-subject law, and urged them to make every possible effort to reach out to the international community to apprise them about the horrifying situations in the state and its disputed status.”We will safeguard the integrity and special status of the state at any cost,” Geelani said, adding that the BJP regime is working to sabotage the referendum process in the state. It is important to mention here a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice of India Dipak Mishra, Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwikar will hear the petitions on Monday. An NGO ‘we the citizens’ had approached SC asking for scrapping of article 35A. A large section of society in Jammu region has also demanded scrapping of article 35A claiming that it leads to discrimination with the Hindu majority Jammu region.
