A CBI court held Dera Sacha Sauda chief main accused Gurmeet Ram Rahim and three others guilty of murdering journalist Ram Chander Chhattrapati in 2002 on Friday. The court of special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh would pronounce the quantum of sentence on January 17. Gurmeet Ram Rahim is currently serving a 20-year prison term in Sunaria jail in Rohtak in a rape case of his two followers.
Other accused who have been held guilty are Krishan Lal, Nirmal Singh and Kuldeep Singh. It is pertinent to mention that Chhattarpati was shot in 2002 by Nirmal and Kuldeep Singh outside his residence after his newspaper published an anonymous letter narrating how women were being exploited by Gurmeet Singh at Dera. The case was registered in 2003 and handed over to the CBI, said its counsel HPS Verma. He said that quantum of sentence would be pronounced on January 17. The CBI is also investigating the two other cases against convicted Ram Rahim. These cases are of castration of 400 Dera followers and a murder. The castration case is also at the final stage.
