Students were lathi charged when they were defending the National Anthem at Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir. Students of Government Model Boys’ Higher Secondary School alleged that an Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) did not stop and stand while the anthem was being played.When students began protesting against the incident, police allegedly came and lathi-charged them. AC(R) had reportedly come to the school and the Anthem was being played when the officer arrived.However, he did not show any respect towards the National Anthem while it being sung. Teacher and students were infuriated by this action of AC(R).Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
