Students Kashmir. Three Kashmiri students have been booked for disrespecting the national anthem after they did not stand up when it was being played in a cinema hall. Students from an engineering college in Hyderabad. The three was arrested by Hyberabad police on Saturday after the theater management complained about their action.“The management of the theatre lodged a complaint with police, stating that the three persons did not stand up when the National Anthem was played when all others in the cinema hall were standing,” deputy commissioner of police (Shamshabad Zone) PV Padmaja told PTI. The three students, in their 20s, belong to Jammu and Kashmir, police said.The DCP said following the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act of 1971 against the trio and they were taken into custody. The Supreme Court had in December made it mandatory for all cinema halls in the country to play the national anthem along with the tricolor displayed on the screen before the screening of every movie. The move, the Supreme Court said was to instill a sense of patriotism had however led to violence, in some cases elderly, disabled and women being assaulted for not standing up for the national anthem.
