DP Correspondent, Chandigarh/Panchkula, Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson skipped : Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan skipped the date with Panchkula police on Tuesday as she did not turn up, citing medical grounds. Panchkula police had summoned her for questioning in connection with its ongoing probe into the August 25 Panchkula violence. She was asked to appear before local police at 10 am on Tuesday pertaining to the conspiracy hatched at the Sirsa-based dera to incite violence in Panchkula.Meanwhile when asked about the same, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mukesh Malhotra who is heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the case told that Panchkula police has again summoned Vipassana to turn up for questioning. ”We have again summoned Vipassana for October 12. We had earlier summoned her for Tuesday but she did not turned up citing medical grounds. We have received her medical which will also be verified,” he added. Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manbir Singh told that the police were verifying whether Vipassana had faked ill health to avoid police probe or did she really have medical problem. “Her questioning is vital to our ongoing probe. We will see what can be done in due course,” he said.As many as 35 people were killed and 250 were injured in Panchkula soon after the dera chief was convicted by a special CBI court on August 25. The ongoing interrogation of Honeypreet, adopted daughter of the dera chief, has found that she was part of the meeting that took place on August 17 in which planning was made to spread arson in Panchkula. Police suspect Vipassana, being the administrative head of the dera, might be in the know of the conspiracy. She was to be questioned to dig out more details on how Panchkula violence was executed. It is for the first time that she will be questioned regarding violence. She was earlier grilled by the Sirsa police in which the questioning was then limited to Honeypreet’s whereabouts and some incidents in the district.The police have claimed that after meeting at the dera on August 17, Honeypreet had handed Rs 1.25 crore to dera chief’s personal assistant (PA) Rakesh Kumar, who was in police custody till Monday. He was produced in a local court on Tuesday which sent him to judicial custody. It was claimed that Honeypreet had asked Rakesh to hand over the money to dera’s Panchkula-based functionaries to use it to incite violence.Earlier, the Panchkula police had asked Vipassana to share details regarding the cavalcade of cars that accompanied Gurmeet Ram Rahim on the day of his conviction in the rape case on August 25 which was provided by the Dera management. The police had impounded 56 vehicles that were part of his cavalcade after violence erupted in Panchkula and recovered a large number of weapons and other inflammable material.
