Though only two months were left for Lok Sabha elections but no Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader from Ludhiana has desired to contest elections from Party ticket. Facing difficult to find candidate for Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat, Aam Aadmi Party is likely to field Aman Arora from Ludhiana for Lok Sabha elections. Aman Arora is MLA from Sunam of Sangrur district. Earlier, AAP was in alliance with Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) of MLA Bains brothers and MLA Simarjit Singh Bains was the probable candidate of alliance from Ludhiana.
After the alliance came to an end, AAP has no strong candidate to contest Lok Sabha elections. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, AAP Legislator from Dakha constituency HS Phoolka was party’s candidate but now Phoolka has resigned as MLA and from all posts of party. However his resignation was pending with Vidhan Sabha speaker but Phoolka has quit party. After Phoolka, Party high command has considered the names of Ahbab Singh Grewal and district president Daljit Singh Grewal but both the leaders also avoided to contest elections when party is in crisis.Sources said that Party high command has decided to announce candidates two months before the elections and the candidate for Ludhiana constituency would be announced in mid February.
At this stage, the party is considering the name of Legislator from Sunam Aman Arora as Lok Sabha candidate from Ludhiana. If the name of Aman Arora will be dropped, then Party may think of women legislator Saravjit Kaur Manuke or any new face.Sources in AAP said that, Party wanted to face Hindu and popular face from Ludhiana and Aman Arora is the best choice. Moreover, Party’s National Convener wanted that MLAs should contest Lok Sabha elections.Senior leader of AAP, Darshan Singh Shankar said that party will announce candidate in next few days and it is the prerogative of party high command to announce the name of candidate. He said that no panel of candidates was sent from Ludhiana and party will announce the name. He added that Aman Arora is good choice as candidate but they have not received any communication or feedback regarding the candidate. It is pertinent to mention here that after the AAP has end alliance with Lok Insaaf party and suspension of Sukhpal Khaira, the party is facing leadership crisis in Ludhiana. In Municipal Corporation elections, the party has contested on 47 seats but won only one seat.
