NDA candidate and BJP leader Ramnath Kovind for presidential nomination sought support from legislators and parliamentarians for the July 17. He said that he would keep the top constitutional position above the party line.During a meeting in a hotel here Wednesday, BJP’s senior leader and former Karnataka chief minister Jagdish Shettar was also present. The meeting was attended by Union Ministers Thawar Chand Gehlot, Ananth Kumar and State BJP President BS Yeddyurappa. Shettar said that as soon as Kovind’s candidature was announced, the NDA’s outside parties also supported it.Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar upheld him. It is sure that 70 percent of the votes will be cast in their favor. Three members of the BJP’s close aide BSR and former minister B. Shreeramulu was also present in the meeting. He announced his support to Kovind. Kovind will start his two-day publicity campaign in Purbo on Thursday.Tripura legislator from Tripura will support Kovind
All six Trinamool Congress MLAs in Tripura will meet Ramnath Kovind in Guwahati on Thursday. Trinamool legislator Sudeep Rai Barman said on Wednesday that the people would support NDA opponents. He said that the Central leadership of BJP has invited him to visit Guwahati.
