PM Modi Inaugurates Sardar Sarovar Dam on occasion of his Birthday. PM Narendra modi inaugurated the world’s second largest Dam called, Sardar Sarovar Dam on the occasion of his 67th birth anniversary. It is pertinent to note that over the last several decades Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam scheme was surrounded by controversies.PM Modi, who turned 67 today, unveiled the plaque dedicating the dam to the nation, after performing a ‘Pooja’ at the site in Kevadia in the Narmada district. Union minister Nitin Gadkari, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.On the occasion of his birthday, he also took blessings from his mother Hiraba. The audit of this 138.68 meter high dam by Narendra Modi constructed in Kevadia. After conducting an audit of dam, he will also hold rally in Dabori-Vadodara. The dam on the river Narmada has been described as ‘Gujarat’s lifeline’ by the BJP leaders. The foundation stone of the dam was laid on April 5, 1961 by the country’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.About 65,000 crores have been spent on this Dam built in last 56 years. Gujarat will get the highest benefit of the dam, which will be able to irrigate 18.45 lakh hectares of land in 3137 villages. Madhya Pradesh will get 57% of the electricity, Maharashtra will get 27% and Gujarat will get 16% power.In the last few days, on the occasion of Hindi Day, Prime Minister Modi has laid the foundation of Project Bullet Train with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe. This train will have 10 coaches and every coach will be fully equipped with the facilities.Initially, only 750 passengers will be able to travel at a time, but later this capacity will be increased to 1250. The number of trains will gradually increase to 35 and by 2053 the number will reach 105.
