Police arrests gangsters notorious for throwing chilly powder to loot
Jalandhar (DP Correspondent, Sept 13) – The Jalandhar Rural Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a five-member notorious gang for throwing red chilly powder in the eyes of people for committing loot in the region. A police party acting on a tip off that the five gangsters namely Vishal alias Shalu, Harjot Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Sunny and Himanshu all residents of Basti Bawa Khel, Jalandhar have installed fake number plates on their motorcycles and were committing incidents of looting and snatching by throwing red chilly powder in the eyes of people. SSP Rural Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Inspector Jaswinder Singh, SHO Maqsudan alongwith police party nabbed the five accused while conducting routine patrolling. Bhullar said that the police also recovered three Datar, two motorcycle, eight mobile phones, one packet of red chilly powder and two fake registration certificates motorcycles from them. The SSP said that all the accused armed with weapons had gathered in the area of village Wariana and were going to commit further crime. An FIR under section 379-B/392/394/395/420/467/468/471/482 of IPC was registered against them.During preliminary investigation it was revealed by the accused that they used to commit crimes at night time. “Till date, they have committed nine incidents of snatching out of which they looted mobile phones from four migrant labourers, cash from four persons and a motorcycle from a person in Bulandpur village on September 2. The police said that further investigation was on to track their involvement in other crimes in the region.
