Congress begins campaign:With Lok Sabha Election 2019 season picking pace, Jalandhar West MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku along with a group of party workers Friday reached out to the voters by holding placards and distributed pamphlets questioning Modi government about its poll promises made in 2014. Punjab will go for polls on May 19.
Rinku launched the maiden election campaign for making Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister of the country from the highly busy Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk in the city. Rinku is also a strong contender for Jalandhar parliamentary seat.Standing along the roads around the chowk, the congress workers carried placards questioning PM Modi about his poll promises with a slogans- ‘Vote dete waqt yaad rakhna’.
From questions over Rafale Deal and the subsequent theft of its secret documents to Modi government’s failure in not constructing even a single All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the country, and not providing jobs, the workers reminded PM Modi of his poll promises. The congress workers also distributed pamphlets with questions to PM Modi- ‘Desh ko chaiye Jawab- Hum nahi mangte koi Hisab’. Among the major questions was Rs 15 lakh promise, affecting people’s life through demonetization, how many Smart Cities were developed, make in India campaign, four dates when cross border firing did not take place, sky rocketing petrol prices and many more.
Talking to Daily Post MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku said that they wish to see Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister of the country. “Our attempt was to make people aware about the poll promises made by PM Modi in 2014. These were core development promises, which remained unaddressed. We want to make people aware that they should keep these fake poll promises of Modi in mind while casting vote on May 19”, he said.MLA Rinku also took a dig at PM Modi’s ‘Mai bhi Chowkidar Campaign’ and said that in the name of jobs, all that the youth got was ideas to sell ‘pakodas’ and become chowkidars. He said that this campaign would be held in different parts of Jalandhar in the coming days.
Ashwani Jhangral, another supporter of Rinku said that the workers wore T-shirts bearing Rahul Gandhi and Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s photos. “The congress workers would reach out to the grass roots levels and make people aware that how Modi government befooled them all these days”, he added. The congress workers also blamed PM Modi of diverting attention from the development issues by raising questions over nationalism and debates on subjects which were aimed at dividing the society. “PM Modi should answer these questions now”, they said.
