Punjab CM orders probe into Sangrur cracker blast. A terrible fire broke out at the fireworks godown in Sangrur in which five people were killed and four were injured. The incident occurred at a factory which is a major supplier of crackers to the entire Sangrur district.The two-storey factory building was completely damaged in the blast.
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has ordered an investigation into Tuesday’s firecracker explosion in a Sangrur godown, while announcing Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the families of each of those killed in the incident.He expressed profound grief and anguish over the massive explosion at a firecracker factory, which led to five casualties at village Sularghrat in Dirba. Chief Minister on Wednesday directed the district administration to ascertain the cause of the tragic incident and take remedial measure in future to prevent its recurrence.He asked the officials to fix responsibility for the explosion, that took place in the godown in village Sullar Gharat in Dirba sub division of district Sangrur. Captain Amarinder ordered stringent implementation of fire safety rules/guidelines in the operations of all business establishments and industries using hazardous and highly inflammable materials. No complacency or laxity in this regard would be tolerated, he warned.
