Punjab Congress changes idea to replace District Congress President

Chandigarh: Perhaps the Congress has changed its mind to replace all the 28 District Congress Presidents. Sources in the Party told that the decision has been taken after the idea to give the Chairmen posts of Corporations and boards to the MLAs. Earlier, it was the opinion in the party that removed from the post, the district presidents will be rewarded with Chairmen posts. Talking to Daily Post, the State Congress Chief Sunil Jakhar told that only 6-7 District president will be replaced, who are MLAs.

Earlier, a penal of three names from each district had been sent to the party high command for the appointment of the new District Congress Committee (DCC) President. It was decided to promote those DCC President with senior posts in the party and in the Corporations and Boards, who will be replaced. But after the rising of rebellion type situation among the MLAs, the Government and Party has decided to honours MLAs with Chairmen posts. With this development, the party has changed its idea to replace its all DCC Presidents.

After the selected replacement of DCC, the block level president will be done, if needed. Only half dozen of DCC President will be replaced who are MLA also. It was the decision of the Congress not to continue such DCC President, who is also MLA. Talking to Reporters, PPCC Chief Jakhar told that there is no move to change DCC presidents as they have shown their performance in the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha and Shahkot Assembly Bye-poll, but 6-7 Presidents, who are MLAs, will be changed from such posts. Sources told that new faces are likely to be introduced for DCC Presidents.
