Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress election manifesto, page number 24-25 says that under the ‘Ghar Ghar rozgar’ unless the job is not given, all identified unemployed would be ab unemployment allowance of Rs 2500 per month. But even after the passing of 15 months, the Government could able to find only 192 unemployed youths fit for allowance. Despite the promise to give Rs 2500 to each unemployed, only Rs 150 to 200 are given per month. It is also a question that before the election, the Congress had registered 28.50 lacs youths, under the ghar-ghar rozgar campaign, but in the employment offices, only 2, 29,639 unemployed youth could able to registered. Where the rest 26 lacs unemployed youths have gone, nobody know.
Before assembly election, it was the promise of the Congress to give unique ID through a ‘Berozgari Bhatta Card’ (Unemployment allowance card) with oath printed with Captain Amrinder Singh’s signature with promise to give a least one job to a young member of each family and unemployment allowance Rs 2500 per month for three year till the fellow would able to get job. The Government could able to provide 2611 government job from March to December 2017, when it came into power and 1086 government jobs from January to May 2018, totalling 3697 jobs. After coming into power, the Congress Government has provided Rs 2, 88,075 to the 192 youths, who have been found fit for unemployment allowance. Interestingly, Rs 150 to 200 are paid to unemployed of general beneficiary , 300 to 450 to handicapped and Rs 450 to 600 are being paid to blind, deaf and dumb unemployed according to qualification, per month. Sources told that the Government still initiate no process to enhance unemployment allowance.
No comment, says minister Channi
Minister for Employment generation and training, Charanjit Singh Channi has refused to comment on the issue of unemployment allowance. Talking over the phone with Daily Post, he said that this issue is on the level of Chief Minister, therefore he cannot make any statement. Before Channi, the department was with Chief Minister.
