Ludhiana: Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) will set up three centres in Majha, Malwa and Doaba regions to facilitate placing of Sarup of Guru Granth Sahib at various gurdwaras.
This was decided in the meeting of the interim committee of the SGPC held at Gurdwara Deghsar Sahib, Katana Sahib here on Monday presided by SGPC president Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar presided over the meeting.
Informing about other decision taken in the meeting, SGPC general secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla said as many as 250 Sarup of Guru Granth Sahib will be sent to various gurdwaras in Canada in accordance with the demands made by the Sikh Sangat there.
On the whole, wherever required these Sarup will be sent on the recommendations of SGPC members after ensuring that conditions of due respect in this regard have been met with by the management of the concerned gurdwara.
Chawla informed that a decision was also taken to put up photographs of prominent Sikh writer Prof Piara Singh Padam, Shaheed Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaunke and martyr of Dabwali episode Bhai Harminder Singh in Central Sikh Museum at Darbar Sahib.
In view of large turnout of the Sikh devotees on the occasion of Hola Mohalla at Anandpur Sahib, it was decided to put up temporary tents. Similarly, to accommodate rush of devotees, the meeting approved installation of two elevators in the new Langar building in Darbar Sahib Complex.
