Patiala: Three unidentified miscreants, on Monday, looted `2 lakh from the employees of a finance company from their office located at Satnam Nagar area of Rajpura town. The incident took place on a day when the police are on high alert in the district amid ‘Operation Blue Star’ anniversary celebrations.
It is learnt that Satin credit care network limited operates its office at a house located in the said area. The firm offers financial services to self-help groups, especially to women based. At around 2 pm on Monday, three unidentified looters entered the office and enquired about the loan facilities and other services of the company. When the staff was trying to serve them on of them locked the door from inside and raising his pistol asked the employees to hand over the cash to them.
Manager of the firm, Sateshwar Singh, in his complaint to police, said that the employees tried to negotiate with them but they threatened to open fire upon them. He added that as one of them pointed the gun towards an employee, they gave away the available cash, which was `2 lakh at that time, to them. One of the eyewitnesses said that the looters were not carrying any vehicle and it might be parked far from the office and they easily fled after the incident.
A case has been registered under section 382 and 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Rajpura city police station Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajinder Singh Sohal said that the police are trying to trace the criminals and process of their identification is underway with the help of sketch artists and available information.
