Kapurthala: Under the Clean India Scheme initiated by Prime Minister, 33 government girls school in the city are to get the Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines installed in the premises for the benefit of girl students.
In the first part of this campaign such machines were installed in 8 schools of Phagwara. Jarnail Singh Wahad,Chairman,Markfed,Punjab inagurated the machines accompanied by ADC Deepti Uppal at Govt Girls Sr Sec School ,Phagwara. On the occassion, ADC Uppal said, ” I urge the corporate houses to come forward and help in this noble cause .These 8 machines installed today have been contributed by Wahad Sandhar Sugar Ltd ,Phagwara.
There will be a total of 33 machines to be installed in girls schools in the Kapurthala Distt. ” Area Service manager Harpreet Singh gave a demonstration to the girls to use this machine. He told that the machine uses either two Rs 5 coins or one Rs 10 coin to eject a packet of 3 sanitary napkins out of it . ADC Deepti Uppal said that the girl students will feel comfortable while going to school now and the attendance will increase in the schools where such Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines have been fitted .
