Jalandhar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) has decided to honour Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for successfully organising the 350th Parkash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh in the state capital Patna Sahib.
SGPC chief Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the Bihar CM has set an example of sorts in organising an international level Parkash Purab in his state.
“The way Bihar CM made arrangements for the religious congregation in Patna Sahib, it was highly commendable. Sikhs and Punjabis across the world were appreciating the efforts of Nitish Kumar for which the SGPC has decided to honour him,” he said.
Badungar also said that not only CM Nitish Kumar, even the Bihar Government officials would also be honoured by the SGPC. “Till date, people from across the globe, including Sikhs and the Punjabis were lauding and remembering the world class arrangements made by Nitish government,” he added.
Talking to the media at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Public School, Hazara village in Jalandhar, Badungar also said that besides officials from Bihar government, those who were on duty from Punjab would also be honoured. Among the Punjab government officials were Parkash Purab Coordinator G S Kang, Principal Secretary Tourism department Harjot Kaur and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Patna Sahib. “Bihar CM Nitish Kumar wanted to visit Darbar Sahib Amritsar and the SGPC would take a final decision in this regard during its meeting scheduled for February 17,” the SGPC chief said.
He also highlighted that the SGPC would start a campaign along with environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal and Sant Daya Singh from Khadoor Sahib in Punjab. Badungar also said that the SGPC has also taken a serious note of Sikh youth deviating from the path of Sikhism. “We have started various programmes in the educational institutions to educate and motivate the Sikh youth to follow the rich and glorious path of Sikhism,” he added.
