Fatehgarh Sahib: Under the directive of National Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalat was organised in Fatehgarh Sahib on Saturday under the supervision of Sanjiv Berry District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority Fatehgarh Sahib. Prashant Verma, PCS, CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Fatehgarh Sahib said that a wide array of cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat, to exemplify; criminal compoundable cases, 138 NIA cases, family matters, labour disputes, civil matters etc.
A total of 7 benches were constituted at Fatehgarh Sahib District, presided over by Sanjiv Berry District and Sessions Judge, B B S Teji AD&SJ and Manjot Kaur AD&SJ, Aman Kaur CJSD, Neetika Verma CJM, Ms Babita JMIC and Gaurav JMIC. One bench was constituted at Amloh presided by Jasvir Singh SDJM and one in Khamanon presided by Himanshi Galhotra SDJM.
He said the Lok Adalat was a resounding success as 2073 cases, including pre-litigated cases, were taken up for settlement out of which 744 cases were amicably settled for a total settlement amount of Rs 76258406.
The litigants as well as lawyers actively participated in the Lok Adalat. Prashant Verma said that the major benefits of Lok Adalat are that the court fees paid by the litigant is refundable and the decision passed by the Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties. It was appealed by him that litigants should endear themselves to Lok Adalats so to avail cost and time effective and perpetual benefits.
Patiala: A total of 1727 cases out of 3531 were settled with mutual consent of both the parties and awards worth Rs. 44.76 were also settled concerning the cases in the National Lok Adalat being organised in Patiala sessions division on Saturday in this district.
According to the district and session Judge, Arun Gupta a total of Nine judicial benches were constituted in Patiala session division under it out of which five were in Patiala, two in Samana and one each at Rajpura and Nabha respectively. He said that in the National Lok Adalat all cases except non compoundable criminal cases were taken up and decided with the mutual consent of the involved parties. He further added that the unique feature of National Lok Adalat is that the cases settled here un-challengeable.
Gurdaspur: As many as 375 cases were settled at National Lok Adalat organised at Gurdaspur and Batala on Saturday
The National Lok adalt was organized under the chairmanship of H P S Mahal district and session judge cum chairman district legal services Gurdaspur in which 8 benches of Lok Adalat including Criminal compoundable, Recovery cases, Matrimonial, Labour distpute, Land acquisition, electricity and water bills ( Excluding Theft) and service matters were set in which a total of 375 of the 1411 cases were settled with understanding of both parties and a total amount of Rs . 4,72,32,715 was awarded in the cases.DP
