Just before the Lok Sabha elections in the state, the Punjab government on Monday ordered the transfers and posting of 90 IPS and PPS officers with immediate effect. As per the available information, the transferred officers have been asked to take charge of their new responsibilities with immediate effect. Officers who are transferred include Ram Kumar, IPS who was serving as IGP, Admn, intelligence transferred as IGP information technology and telecommunication with additional charge of IGP, SCRB. IPS Parveen Kumar Sinha is transfered from IGP, crime, BoI to IGP provisioning. IPS Mohnish Chawla who was the IGP, information technology and telecommunication is transferred as IGP crime, BoI. Manoj Yadava appointed new state DGP
Yadav is an IPS officer of 1998 batch and out of three names, government approved his name for the post
The state government on Monday appointed Manoj Yadava, an IPS officer of 1988 batch, as the new DGP of the state. The government approved his name out of three names suggested by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). In view of continuous speculations, the state government finalised his name on Monday. He was promoted from Additional Director General of Police to the post of DG rank last year.“IPS Manoj Yadava is the new DGP of Haryana as the state government has approved his name for the post,” said the Home Secretary of the state, SS Parsad. After the panel of three names, the UPSC had left to the Haryana government to appoint the new DGP. K Selvaral was also considered to be the strongest contender for tis coveted post. The issue pertaining to the cadre of Manoj Yadava emerged as a bone of contention between the state government and the UPSC. It was stated by the UPSC that Yadav joined in 1989 resulting in the fulfilment of 30 years’ criteria. The state government came with the view that he was assigned the cadre in 1988.It is pertinent to mention that the UPSC had sent the names of three senior officials of the DG rank including K Selvaraj, KK Sindhu and Manoj Yadav to the state government and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar finally approved the name of Manoj Yadava. He was also posted as Joined Director, State Intelligence Bureau, Guwahati and presently is on deputation to the Ministry of Home Affairs. A panel of ten senior officials was sent to the UPSC by state government and the UPSC sent back the names of three officials. Many of them were trying for this post.
