Chandigarh: Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi, on Friday leveled the allegations against SAD-BJP government for gross misuse of public exchequer for their personal use. Channi said that the state transport department spent more than 97 crores on the Government vehicles provided to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief minister and the entire cabinet from 2007 onwards till 2015. While inviting a debate, he added that the Badals should come on public platform for open debate on the financial crisis and implementation of social security schemes in the state in last ten years.
According to the RTI procured by Dr Jasdeepak Singh, the state transport department borne this expenditure, which is now to the tune of more than 100 crores. Channi said that while the state is going for financial emergency, the Badals are enjoying the best of luxuries, which are entitled to them from the public exchequer. The state transport department spent the highest Rs. 17, 77, 92, 929 in the year 2012-2013 on these vehicles while they spent the least amount of Rs. 8,38,28,895 in the year 2008-09. The expenditure incurred in the last year 2014-15 was pegged at Rs. 13,13,90,655.
Channi also lambasted on the Badals for their anti people attitude towards the social security schemes in the state, while spending lavishly for their own luxuries. Under the handicap pension scheme Badal Government has disbursed just 335.55 Crores in the last ten years from 2007 to 2016. Covering just 11 Lacs beneficiaries in this scheme in the last ten years, Channi said that more than 30 % of this amount is spent on the entire cabinets vehicles provided for their luxury and comfort leaving the handicapped of the right to get the pension. Astonishingly the RTI also reveals that in one year 2014-2015 (151094 No’s) to 2015-2016 (146118 No’s) approx. 5000 beneficiaries have been reduced. Channi seeks explanation on this that why and how 5000 beneficiaries were deleted from the list, whether 5000 persons passed away in one year time or is there some political motive behind this. Similarly more than Rs. 2.5 lacs beneficiaries were removed from the old age pension scheme from 2014-15 (1400347 No’s) to 2015-16 (1156109 No’s). How’s is it possible that 2.5 lacs are removed in one year, there is some thing fishy in these social security schemes also.
