Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has closed the inquiry into the allegations on its former state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur.
Divulging details, Punjab co-incharge of the party Jarnail Singh said the matter was closed as Chhotepur didn’t appear before the investigation committee to clear the charges levelled against him. “Moreover, he is no more a member of the party for having floated his own outfit,” said Jarnail Singh.
Jarnail Singh and the AAP’s legal wing head Himmat Singh Shergill were here to address media on the law and order situation of Punjab. The two said that the news related to crime appearing in the newspapers every day shows the real situation in Punjab.
They criticised the state government for “failing to provide security” to the citizens of Punjab and asked state government to protect the people from the atrocities of SAD workers.
Jarnail said that rule of lawlessness prevailed in Punjab and SAD workers were killing people without any fear, he alleged. The police rather than taking action against the culprits are shielding them. He warned state police officials to stop working as the personal army of SAD, he charged.
Giving ultimatum to the Moga police to arrest the killers of AAP worker Jagroop Singh of Bhindar Kalan Jarnail said that if the police would not take any action against the culprits, AAP will gherao the police station on Tuesday. He said that on the birthday of Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh from September 28 onwards, AAP would start ‘Insaaf March’ throughout Punjab. DP
