Patiala: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which organised a protest at Kapoori village in this district well before the announcement of the state assembly elections the issue related to the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal came to the fore, but now it turned back-bencher as it has decided not to organise any such protest or any kind of protest against the move of INLD to organise a SYL march on February 23 from Ambala to Punjab to start digging of the SYL canal in Punjab to take river waters.
It was revealed by none other than the party’s vice-president and the candidate from Patiala Urban assembly segment, Dr Balbir Singh while talking exclusively by the Daily Post late evening on Tuesday.
Dr Balbir Singh said that the party has taken the decision not to organise any protest on February 23 against INLD as the matter concerning SYL is a sub-judice matter as it is still pending in the Supreme Court and the state government has just filed its affidavit over the issue before the apex court. He said that its the duty of the Supreme Court as well as the Union Government to act against the INLD’s proposed SYL march program as if not checked in time will prove dangerous for the hard- won peace of bordering state of Punjab.
Hitting hard against the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal, he said that SAD is hand in glove with the INLD as everybody knows about the friendship and relations of the Badals with Chautalas and as Badals know about their defeat in the assembly elections so they want to disturb the peace of Punjab through Chautalas and this march is the part of that very plan hatched by both families.
He further added that it’s not the fight for any river water but it’s an exercise by Chautalas to make an inroads into its lost mass base in Haryana. He said that the people of the Haryana has discarded the corrupt Chautalas from the political map and now they are trying to get the intention of the people but the people of the Haryana are wise enough not to respond to the calls of Chautalas.
But when specifically asked why AAP desisted from confrontation on this issue, Dr Balbir Singh said that how we can go against the Haryana people as recently our party cadre from Haryana have come to us to help out the party in the state assembly elections. He reiterated that it’s the duty of the law enforcing agencies to maintain the law and order and peace at every cost and the Union Government must act to save Punjab.
