Adampur MLA Pawan Tinu demand waiving off 5 percent GST on raw hide DP Correspondent Jalandhar, July 14 Adampur MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu on Friday demanded that the centre government should abolish 5 percent GST on raw hide. Leather traders, particularly skinners have been on protest against the imposition of GST on raw hide for the past fortnight.The Skinners had refused to pick the dead animals, leading to chaos for the local residents in most areas. The centre government imposed GST in the country on July 1. Tinu said that he would lead a delegation to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and demand that 5 percent GST be abolished on raw hide. “Meanwhile, Punjab government should also waive off 2.5 percent GST on raw hide”, he said. Talking to media persons, Tinu also flayed the appointment of former DSGMC chief Paramjit Singh Sarna as advisor to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
“A person who lost DSGMC election twice was appointed as the advisor”, he said.The MLA also questioned the appointment of 121 Law Officers by Punjab Government and said that reservation policy was not followed while appointing them. “Their appointment was in violation of the reservation policy and we would approach the court in this case”, he added. Tinu was accompanied by SAD Urban president Gurcharan Singh Channi and others on this occasion.
