Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat, who is also the president of Ludhiana’s elite Sutlej Club, has entrusted the enquiry into the allegations of gambling inside the club premises to ADC (D) Apneet Riyait.
The enquiry has been marked on the basis of a complaint against the club’s joint secretary J S Kairon who has allegedly been involved in illegal activities of gambling along with some other members of the club. Apneet Riyait said that as she was on leave till November 4, the enquiry would start after returning to duty.
According to club’s general secretary Ruchi Bawa, complaints were being made against Kairon about his involvement in this illegal activity along with others. A warning had also been put up on the club’s notice board but no heed was paid to it. She has also reportedly claimed to have caught Kairon and other members red-handed indulging in gambling. CCTV footage has also been submitted to the DC as part of the complaint.
Kairon, on the other hand, said that he was unaware of any complaint made to the club president. He would respond to the allegations only after receiving the official communication. Meanwhile, Ravi Bhagat said that appropriate action would be taken on the basis of the enquiry report.
