Agriculture Department strict on production of paddy before June 15. Before the time fixed by the government, farmers have started paddy in their fields. Under this action, the Agriculture Department has ploughed one and half acre of village Jannal farmer Ram Singh and farmer Gurbaj Singh of village Mojoval. Not only that, the cost of cultivating paddy was also taken from the farmers.In the presence of Agriculture Officer, Dr Virendra Singh Sunam, Dr. Damanpreet Singh Agriculture Development Officer and Mr. Harvinder Singh Agriculture Deputy Inspector has paddy ploughed. Chief Agriculture Officer Sangrur has appled the farmers not to start paddy before 15th June.The Chief Agriculture Officer, Jagtar Singh Brar said that the Agriculture Department has been made aware of this Act from time to time regarding the farmers of the district. Due to the decline ground water level in Punjab, the government has enacted the Punjab Constitution of Sub-Water Waters Act, 2009, which prohibits the production of paddy before June 15.A team of Agriculture Department paddy was ploughed in two acres of land after catching paddy in a village Bapiaana near Mansa.The poor farmer’s forward crop is badly affected by the agriculture department. Farmer Chamkaur Singh had given three acres of paddy on the way of Baba Sidhwadi.Agriculture Department Dr. Gurminder Singh, Dr. Navdeep Singh, Dr. Dharmvir Singh and Dr. Jarnail Singh told the farmers about the government’s order. Farmer Chamkaur Singh ploughed paddy with his own tractor and no case filed anywhere in this regard.
