Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal MP from Anandpur Sahib and the party general secretary Prem Singh Chandumajra on Thursday demanded registration of a case against senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler for money laundering and winning over a witness. Surinder Singh was a prime witness in the case of Tytler’s alleged involvement in the November 1984 anti-Sikh violence in Delhi in the wake of assassination of the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
He raised this issue in the Lok Sabha during zero hour on the basis of some CBI papers that were part of the investigation done by the agency in the case against arms dealer Abhishek Verma. Chandumajra produced the papers from the file of that case to hammer the point that Tytler sent Rs 5 crore through hawala to win over prime accused Surinder Singh, whose son he had helped settle abroad.
He regretted that despite several commissions having been constituted over the period, the Sikhs were still to get justice as no major accused responsible for the massacre had been punished. Now, some of the cases that have been closed were being re-investigated by a Special Investigating Team.
