Nawanshahr: Senior SAD leader and Lok Sabha MP from Anandpur Sahib Prem Singh Chandumajra here today termed appointment of Kamal Nath as in-charge of party affairs for Punjab by Congress party “as an attempt by the party to rub salt into the raw wounds of Sikhs”.
Chandumajra said this on the occasion of flag-off of Nawanshahr-Varanasi train under the Mukh Mantri Tirth Darshan Yatra programme. He said by this act the congress party has, once again, shown its anti-Sikh mentality and the party will have to pay heavily for this blunder as now the Sikhs will ensure its rout by voting against it during the ensuing poll.
Chandumajra added that Nath’s name had figured in the November 1984 conspiratorial anti-Sikh violence following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her two Sikh bodyguards and Nanawati Commission too had held him responsible for inciting violence against Sikhs during the anti-Sikh riots. Chandumajra lamented that instead of punishing such a person the Congress party had chosen to appoint him as party in-charge in a Sikh dominated state.
Meanwhile, the third train carrying around 1,000 devotees left for Varanasi from here this morning under the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra programme. The train would return on June 16 after visiting religious places like Shri Gru Ravidas Dham, Kashi Vishavnath Mandir, Ganga Ghat, Kabir Dham, Hanuman Garhi Mandir etc.
Besides SDM Nawanshahr Jiwanjag Jot, senior police officials and local SAD leaders including SAD Nawanshahr halqa in-charge Jarnail Singh Wahidwere also present. Wahid, who along with Chandumajra had flagged off the train, said another train for the remaining pilgrims would be arranged soon.
