The sleuths of Vigilance Bureau have arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Ludhiana Rural police for accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a transporter on Thursday.ASI allegedly harassed transporter by checking his commercial vehicles loaded with sand. ASI had demanded ten thousand bribe and was caught by Vigilance bureau.The accused was identified as Chain Singh deputed in PCR squad in Sidhwan bet. The complainant in the case Jaswinder Singh of Preet Vihar of Partap Singh Wala stated that he owns three tractor-trolleys that used to load sand from government approved sites in Moga and Ferozepur.He alleged that the accused ASI use to harass him by stopping his vehicles in the name of checking and demanded ten thousand bribe in advance and one thousand daily. Following the complaint the vigilance team laid a trap and arrested the accused cop red handed while accepting the bribe. A case under 7, 13 (2) of prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at Vigilance bureau.
