Jalandhar:In a shocking incident, three women were murdered by unidentified assailants in the posh Lajpat Nagar locality of Jalandhar on Thursday evening. The murder took place at around 5.30 pm.
The gory crime took place at the house of industrialist Jagjit Singh Jaggi Loomba, where his wife Daljit Kaur (55), his daughter in law Paramjeet Kaur alias Pammi (38) and her friend Khushwinder Kaur alias Neetu (40) was done to death.
While Daljit and Khushwinder died on the spot, a critically injured Paramjeet Kaur, who was under treatment breathed her last in the hospital. Jagjit Singh Loomba owned a petrol pump and a casting industry in Jalandhar.
The trio was alone at home, when the assailants first hit them with iron rods and then fired gunshots at them. Bullets were recovered from the spot.
Though the Police was tight lipped and investigating the murder. Prima facie, the murder was planned, as the assailants attacked the women when they were alone at home. None of their gold ornaments were stolen from their bodies while they were found lying in a pool of blood.
Commissioner of Police Arpit Shukla accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Police Central Mandeep Singh Dhillon, ADCP-I and II and a battery of police staff was investigating the crime. “Two women namely Daljit Kaur and Khushwinder Kaur were dead while Paramjeet Kaur was undergoing treatment. The police was investigating the matter”, the Commissioner of Police said.
The three women were immediately rushed to a nearby Oxford Hospital, where two of them were declared dead. A team of finger print experts were gathering vital clues.
Incidentally, none of the neighbours of the victim family got to know about the murder, even as the gunshots were fired and bullets were recovered by the police from the crime spot.
It was learnt that the CCTV camera installed in the house had also gone out of order a day ago; hence hinting at a conspiracy.
As per information, the assailants thrashed the women during which the belongings of the house were broken, as the women would have struggled to escape the assailants.
Notably, the murder came to the fore, when Amarinder Singh alias Shantu the husband of Paramjeet Kaur reached home in the evening and noticed that the women were not opening the door. He heard the shrieks of the women inside and broke open the door and found them lying in a pool of blood.
Meanwhile, Paramjeet’s son who had gone for tuition also reached home, after he received the information about the murder.
Savpreet Singh, the neighbour of the Loomba family said that the CCTV camera, which was otherwise working was found non functional today. “Iron rods and broken chairs including household belongings were found broken in the house”, he said.
Police was recording the statement of the eye witness till the filing of the news.
