Nawanshahr: Residents of Balachaur town will at last get the sewerage facility soon. Giving details here today, Balachaur MLA –cum- Chief Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhary Nand Lal said tenders have already been allotted for the 8.08 crore project by the state’s water supply and sewerage board and the contractor will soon start work on the project and complete it by December 2016. The project includes, apart from laying of 11.68 km long lateral and 3.65 km long main sewer lines, laying of 1.66 km long water supply line and construction of main pumping station with 14 million liter capacity per day.
Water Supply and Sewerage Board XEN Ashish Rai said the project was being taken on a priority basis and SDO Ranjit Singh had been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring quality work.
Loading and unloading of vehicles banned in Balachaur
SDM Balachaur Jagjit Singh exercising powers under section 144 of CRPC today banned loading and unloading of vehicles on Balachaur-Bhaddi and Balachaur –Gahun Roads from 8 am to 8 pm in order to provide free and smooth passage to public. The order will remain effective till August 26, said an official release.
Wahid to inaugurate power grid at Bheen
Markfed Chairman Jarnail Singh Wahid will inaugurate the power grid at village Bheen on June 18. XEN Powercom, Nawanshahr Circle Satwinder Singh Sehmbi today informed that this grid, constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore would solve the problem of voltage drop in nearly 16 villages. He said work on the upgradation of another grid in the circle at Jadla was also on and it was expected to give relief to residents of adjoining around 300 villages in matters related drop of voltage and erratic power supply. The project, likely to be completed soon, will cost the Powercom a sum of Rs 22 crore, he said.
