Garhshankar (Anandpur Sahib)
Seeking second term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government on ‘national security’, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Thursday invoked Balakot air strike and said that such an action against Pakistan terrorists was never, nor can it take place in the world.
Rajnath Singh said that this was not a ‘chota-mota’ (petty action) action rather it was carried out on the basis of specific intelligence input. “Now, India was not a weak country. Our borders were secure. India has never had a history of attacking or taking control of a nation. But, now we too have a policy that if someone will trouble us, we will not spare them”, he said. Rajnath Singh said, “Pulwama mai fidayeen hamla huya, hamare 42 CRPF jawano ko mar dala, Jiske baad PM ne jhat-phat 2- 3 logo ki baithak bula ke faisla liya, aur air force ne Pakistan ki dharti par ja kaar atankwadi thikane ka ‘safaya kiya. (Post Pulwama fidayeen terror attack, where 42 CRPF men were martyred, PM Modi immediately took a decision and the IAF went to Pakistan to wipe out terrorists).”
Addressing a rally in favour of SAD-BJP candidate from Anandpur Sahib Prem Singh Chandumajra at Kukkar Majara village in Garhshankar assembly segment, the Union Home Minister lashed out the congress for seeking proof of Balakot air strike. “We carried out such an action against terrorists in Pakistan and congress was seeking proof that how many of them were killed? What should have the Air Force done? Sit and count terrorist casualties 1, 2, 3, 4, 5”, he questioned. The union Home Minister said that this was a question of valour and bravery of our armed forces. “Instead of lauding PM Modi, congress was raising a question on Balakot air strike.
Those who were questioning seeking proof of Balakot air strike should read Italian journalist Francesca Marino’s report, where she shared that atleast 178 terrorists were killed in Pakistan and others were admitted in the hospital”, he added. Further cornering congress, Rajnath Singh said that when 1971 Indo-Pak war for the liberation of Bangladesh took place, the then Leader of Opposition Atal Bihari Vajpayee had lauded Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. “Why can’t congress also laud PM Modi for Balakot air strike? Pakistan ko muh tod jawab dene k karan, Modi ji ki jai jai kar kyu nahi ho skti? Mai is sawal ka jawab jaan na chahta hu. Is sawal ka unke pas koi jawab nai”, he said, amidst loud clapping.
Ranjnath Singh also said that the impact of India’s image as a powerful nation could be gauged from the fact that Pakistan had to bow down before PM Modi and return back IAF officer Wing Commandar Abhinandan Varthman. Earlier, Rajnath Singh equated decline in inflation with that of Pakistan’s poor economy. “Inflation never remained an election issue in the previous general elections. Even in these elections too, inflation was not an election issue. It was because of Modi government’s economic management and control over corruption that there was no increase in inflation. While our government did not let inflation grow beyond two to three percent, in Pakistan, it was 10 to 12 percent. We did not let, Pakistan’s inflation cross Wagah border”, he said.
