Chandigarh: Congress spokesperson Gurwinder Singh Bali is likely to register an FIR against Dera Bassi MLA and CPS N K Sharma after his meeting with PPCC leaders in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Bali alleged that Sharma physically assaulted him in a television debate on a renowned Punjabi news channel based in Phase 8, Mohali. Talking to Daily Post, Bali said that he was called for a debate as Congress representative by this news channel, where Sharma was among guests representing their own parties.
Soon after the debate began, the issue of Asha Kumari being appointed as Congress Punjab incharge heated up and Sharma lost his cool and physically assaulted me when the recording of the show was being done. “We entered into an argument over land grabbing and corruption charges. I accused him of controlling the businesses in Zirakpur and he lost his cool and punched me and kicked my chair and I fell from it,” he said.
Bali also alleged that soon after the incident his security guards came inside the studio and threatened me, but I told them that I am not scared of them and they dare not touch me as I am the spokesperson of the Congress. “He said sorry to me afterwards, to which I did not reply. I am meeting PPCC leaders on Wednesday after which I will register an FIR against him,” said Bali. However, talking to Daily Post on the phone, Sharma denied all allegations, claiming that the the whole debate went very well, apart from few moments of argument on an issue.
“The debate was peaceful and nothing serious happened but just a small argument, after which we continued with the debate for 20 minutes,” claimed Sharma. He also added that Bali was trying to score political mileage through this since his political career stands nowhere. Taking a jibe at Amarinder Singh, he said that, “Captain da hun aah level ho gaya ki Sharma de khilaaf lar reha hai (PPCC chief’s level had come to this low that now he wanted to fight against N K Sharma). Media adviser to Punjab Goverment Vineet Joshi was also present in the studio as a representative of his party, besides the anchor and a senior vernacular journalist.
Amarinder seeks Sharma’s arrest
Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee condemned the alleged assault on congress spokesperson Gurwinder singh Bali by CPS NK Sharma in a television studio during a debate programme, on Tuesday. He also demanded registration of a criminal case against N K Sharma for assault and his immediate arrest for his course of action. Warning the Dera Bassi MLA, Captain said that, “Let me promise you today that it is a matter of six months more and you will have to repent for it and as your countdown has already begun.”
