Bathinda: Chief Parliamentary Secretary and SAD MLA from Balluana assembly segment of Fazilka district Gurtej Singh Ghuriana’s wife Rajvansh Kaur allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her place in Abohar in the wee hours of Monday. Sources claimed that it was a suicide bid, but the CPS outrightly rejected this theory, stating that it was his opponents’ mischief that such rumour was being spread. According to information, Rajvansh Kaur, 56, was first rushed to Civil Hospital, Abohar, from where at about 2:45 am, she was referred to Max Hospital, Bathinda.
The patient reached the hospital at about 4:41 am and the doctors hurriedly resumed the life saving procedure. She was later shifted to Neurology ICU and then in the Medical ICU. It is learnt that Rajvansh was brought to Max Hospital in a beaconed car and the staff treated her as a VIP patient. Some of the medical staff in the hospital informed that she was brought by her son and daughter-in-law. The CPS’ son Rupinder Singh is reportedly posted as Sub Divisional Officer in Drainage Department, Bathinda. According to sources, Rajvansh had a dispute with her husband and the two had a fight at their Ganga Vihar Colony located house in Abohar on Sunday night after which she consumed poisonous substance.
People close to Ghuriana family suspected the role of a Gobindpura based woman, an office bearer of Istri Akali Dal, in the whole episode as Rajvansh Kaur had objection to her proximity with Gurtej Singh Ghuriana. They also went on saying that she had received some photographs of that woman with her husband during an occasion at Shergarh village in Abohar sub division, which triggered the quarrel. Sources informed that Ghuriana family earlier too had some dispute due to Gobindpura-based woman during his oath taking ceremony. It is learnt that once Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had objected to the interference of that woman in question in the events of Balluana constituency.
The matter had also reached Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal and a discussion was held at his New Delhi residence over the issue. Interestingly, speaking over phone, Gurtej Singh Ghuriana and his son Rupinder Singh gave two different statements about the latest incident but mentioned strongly that it was not a suicide bid. “She ate something bad after which she complained of food poisoning. She vomited and we took her to the hospital. Now, she is doing fine,” said Rupinder Singh. On the other hand, Gurtej Singh Ghuriana said: “I am a heart patient and she is diabetic. Last night, she mistakenly consumed my medicine that reacted to her. Sensing the condition, we shifted her from the Civil Hospital, Abohar to Max Hospital, Bathinda, from where I was taking that heart ailment medicine.” Asked about the involvement of Gobindpura-based woman, Ghuriana said: “This is nothing. She is our Istri Akali Dal leader. There is nothing objectionable between us.”
