Bathinda Central University will get Pollution Control Monitoring System. Central Unversity of Bathinda is planning to install a pollution control monitoring system which will provide data of the surroundings with modern display system. The malwa area has not yet such kind of pollution monitoring system which will provide accurate information to people of this region. The system will be operative with in a time span of around six months. We hope that will be installed before March 31, informed Professor RK Kohli, Vice Chancellor of Bathinda University. Prof Kohli said that Air Pollution has become a major problem in all cities and there is a continuous need to monitor air and to make people aware about the continuous exaggerating problem. He informed that Continuous Ambient Air Monitoring Stations which will collect on-the-spot data and display pollutants in air on specially installed electronic display boards outside university or may be at certain other points.
He further added that purchasing of equipment will done soon. Pune, Delhi, Chandigarh and Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali already have these kind of systems. System would monitor various parameters of air, including oxides of nitrogen and sulphur, total suspended particulate matter level, wind direction and speed, ambient temperature, humidity, rainfall and other pollutants in atmosphere.
This is the project of Environment Science Department of Central University Bathinda and Ministry of Science and Technology has committed to provide support of more than 20 lakh rupees for installing this system
