Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to field Bhagwant Mann to contest Assembly election from Jalalabad which, is the constituency represented by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Badal.
Highly placed sources in AAP disclosed that if Sukhbir Badal decided to change his constituency, Mann too would change and contest from which ever constituency the SAD president contested.
Member of Parliament from Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann, comedian turned politician, had expressed his desire a number of times to contest election against Sukhbir Badal. AAP high command was reported to have now accepted Mann’s wish.
The National Convenor of AAP and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal would start his series of election rallies from Jalalabad on November 20 at 3 PM. A total of 21 rallies which would be addressed by Kejriwal in Punjab which, be concluded after 10 days on November 30. (See chart).
A spokesman of AAP when contacted said, “It is likely that Mann would be made to contest against Sukhbir Badal.”
It was evident from the fact that on November 20 Kejriwal would campaign in only one constituency while on other days he would be covering two constituencies per day.
