Chandigarh: Punjab BJP secretary Subhash Sharma has written an open letter to Navjot Singh Sidhu in which he has questioned his reason to resign as Rajya Sabha membership. He starts the letter by saying that it was heartening to see Sidhu on television, evoking the emotions of Punjabis by saying that the interests of the state were paramount to him.But then attacks him by saying that, “ Please don’t think that we Punjabis are fools and will not be able to spot your political gimmicks”.
Sharma goes on by saying that, “In your Monday’s address, you captured the situation very aptly with the phrase, the biggest thing in one’s life is “rashtrya dharma”, but then how could Sidhu leave his dharma? Where were you when this rashtrya needed you most. Dear Mr Sidhu, you were making quick bucks by laughing at the some comedy show or by making cricket match commentary. You were doing everything, but following “rashtrya dharma”. He asks Sidhu that where was he when the sacrilege incidents and terror attacks took place in Punjab.“Now to fulfill your political ambitions, you are willing to go and side with those responsible for the bloodshed,” Sharma adds. He even terms Sidhu’s action akin to backstabbing. He ends the letter by saying that, “As I have worked closely with you, I know you practice meditation. For sake of Punjab, do introspect.”
