Fatehgarh Sahib: Activists of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur) on Monday staged dharna in front of Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner office over SYL issue. State president of the union Pishore Singh Sidhupur also participated in the dharna.
Later they submitted memorandum to Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner to pass over their message over the prevailing issue to the President of India. Addressing the dharna, Pishore Singh Sidhupur said that Punjab has no surplus water. He alleged that the governments have played politics over the SYL issue time and again.
He further stated that the union will wait for President’s decision before taking further action. Union general secretary Surinder Singh Lohari said that the farmers are not in condition to pay installments or other loans due to demonetisation so they should not be declared as defaulters. District BKU president Gurmeet Singh Rurki also expressed concern that the trees which have become the cause of accidents should be immediately cut down.
