Kiratpur Sahib: Confusion prevailed when a body recovered by the local police from Anandpur Sahib channel at Nakkian Power House, near here, was initially taken as the body of missing head of National Gau Sewa Mission Swami Krishna Nand, who had been missing under mysterious conditions for the past few days. However, after the identification, followers of Swamji claimed that the body was of some other saint.
Swamiji’s Bolero was found abandoned on the banks of the Bhakra canal and it was feared that he might have committed suicide. Since day one his followers have been denying this theory and claiming a deep-rooted conspiracy behind his disappearance. The body recovered was taken to the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Ropar, where a large number of followers of Swamiji were assembled and after identification they claimed that it was not his. Som Nath, advocate Shekhar Shukla and Mulraj, staunch followers of Swamiji, who were present at the hospital, said that the body was not of Swamiji.
The district police administration, which was busy on Tuesday at the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s Sangat Darshan programme at Nurpur Bedi, came into activity and rushed to the spot from where the body was recovered. The news of the recovery of Swamiji’s body was flashed by some electronic media. They had to face the wrath of his followers for flashing false news. The government has already constituted a special investigation team to probe the matter.
