Chandigarh: Punjab Police cracked two cases of sacrilege which including sacrilege of Quran Sharif in Sangrur and another of Gutka Sahib reported at Patti with the arrest of two persons, on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Ishrar Mohammad residing in mosque of Sangrur and native of UP, where the incident of desecration of Quran reported and Lakhvinder Singh resident of Patti, who was arrested in-connection with desecration of Gutka Sahib in Patti.
While addressing the media, IGP, Paramraj Singh Umranangal said that following the tip off information the police were able to arrest the accused of the cases.
While narrating the tail of incidents, IGP said that Ishrar was arrested from Mehlan Chownk in Sangrur, who was the brother-in-law of Maulvi of Mosque Mohammad Mustafa. During the preliminary investigation it has came to fore that the accused was staying with his brother-in-law in the premises of mosque. Further, it was revealed that the accused was a drug addict due to which Maulvi thrashed him few days back. During the interrogation, accused revealed that with the motive to take revenge he had committed the crime.
Besides this, accused Lakhwinder Singh s/o Harbhajan Singh r/o Shekh Fatta Bhaini now Butala PS Beas (Amritsar Rural), who had torn the page of Gutka Sahib. According to an official spokesman, a case FIR has been registered on the statement of Gurdev Singh s/o Harbhajan Singh r/o Patti Palla, Butala PS Beas (Amritsar Rural), who said that he has gone to the house of his brother-in-law Baljit Singh s/o Sawarn Singh r/o Butala on 15-8-2016. Accused Lakhwinder Singh was speaking loudly that he has take money from Sukha Singh and he will torn the pages of Gutka Sahib and will falsely implicate Sukha Singh. Gurdev Singh and Baljit Singh prevented Lakhwinder from doing so, but he torn the page of Gutka sahib. A case FIR has been registered and accused has been arrested by ASI Parshotam Lal.
