BSF recovers 5 kg heroin from border

Five packets of contraband wrapped in plastic were recovered from the fields.

Gurdaspur: Border Security Force (BSF)on Tuesday said it has recovered five kg heroin from Wadhai Cheema border out post (BoP) near the international border with Pakistan in Punjab.

BSF Inspector General, Punjab Frontier, Mukul Goel said the seizure was made near the BoP on Monday. Based on specific information, a search operation was carried out during which five packets of the contraband wrapped in plastic cover were recovered from the fields, he said.

The top official said BSF has intensified vigil along the border in view of its vulnerability due to ongoing cultivation and tilling season and heightened activities of smugglers and anti-national

elements.

The border guarding force has been extra alert to effectively check activities of anti-national elements on Punjab border with Pakistan, the IG

added.
