Jalandhar: Amidst the raging controversy over former SAD leader Sarwan Singh Phillaur into the Congress over his drug mafia links, ex-congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar on Saturday lashed out at PPCC Chief Captain Amarinder Singh and said that Amarinder was sold out to drugs mafia for politics.
“The same man who held a Gutka in his hand and swore to punish all drug dealers in Punjab was now garlanding a drug supplier in Punjab. Not only Capt Amarinder protected Majithia from CBI probe, he also allowed Bhola’s case to collapse in the high court and now he was openly hugging drug dealers”, Brar said.
In a press statement, Brar said that ex-SAD leader Sarwan Singh Phillaur was dropped from the Akali cabinet after his son’s name came up in the high profile drug case. “Both father and son was interrogated by the ED in the famous Jagdish Bhola drug case, and that the case was still under investigation”, he added.
Brar flayed Capt and said, “Capt Aamrinder gave clean chits to Tytler and Kamal Nath in the 1984 riots case, now he will shamelessly give one more clean chit to Phillaur too. Earlier, he held Gutka in his hand and swore to fight drugs, now he has dropped the Gutka and picked up drug money to fund his campaign. Captain can stoop to any level and sell his soul for political gains”, he added.
He also mocked Capt’s resignation over the SYL issue and said that first he ran away from Patiala as MLA, then cheated Amritsar as MP and never set foot in the Lok Sabha. “Capt Amarinder has a 3 per cent attendance record in the parliament; he emailed his resignation because had he gone himself to tender resignation, the speaker would not have recognised him. What is the point of resigning from a post that he never worked on – I dare him to show when he spoke about Punjab in Parliament, did he ever even mention SYL in Delhi?” he questioned.
