Chandigarh: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Capt Amarinder Singh being held at Punjab Raj Bhawan Chandigarh on Thursday.
Rahul Gandhi has accepted the invite extended by Capt. Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress president and CM elect, who met him in Delhi on Tuesday.
Asha Kumari, AICC general secretary and incharge Punjab Congress, disclosed that Rahul Gandhi has accepted the invitation and agreed to join the oath ceremony.
After tasting defeated in four (Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Manipur and Goa) states out of, that witnessed Vidhan Sabha elections, Congress received an overwhelming response from the electorate in Punjab.
Though the party emerged as the single largest party in Goa but the BJP, the second largest party managed, to form government. This shattered the hope of Congress Vice-President to take part in the swearing-in ceremony of its leader there. Amid controversies, the BJP leader Manohar Parrikar was sworn-in as Chief Minister of Goa for the third time.DP
