Chandigarh, 7 September: Captain Amarinder UK visit till September 15. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has left for UK from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday afternoon. He has also been accompanied by his personal staff. These includes Khubhi Ram, his security advisor, Rakesh Aggarwal, DIG Chief Minister Security, Media Advisor Raveen Thukral and other officers. Some MLAs have also left for the UK separately.Captain has not given the charge of Chief Minister to anyone but according to the rules of the Blue Book, a senior Minister has the authority to take charge in the absence of the CM. In such circumstances, senior minister Brahm Mohindra will be in power.
This is the first private visit of Captain Amarinder Singh after becoming CM. He is on eight days London tour and will return to India on September 15. During this visit, he will release books related to the Battle of Saragarhi. This book is a saga of sacrifice during the battle of 21 commoners and 36 Sikhs. After the death threats received by Amarinder Singh from the extremists abroad, the Government of India has discussed this issue with the UK’s authority.Only after getting clearance from the UK government, Captain Amarinder has left for this tour. Previously he had planned to visit Israel but that tour was cancelled. Many of his close aides were on the airport to bid farewell.
