Chandigarh – State Bharatiya Janta Party on Friday came out with a report card on one year of Captain Amarinder Singh government. Releasing the report card, Union Minister and state BJP president, Vijay Sampla said that the Captain Amarinder Singh government has failed on all the three fronts of governance, fulfillment of promises and new initiatives for social welfare.Flanked by state secretary BJP Punjab Vineet Joshi, Sampla detailed that Captain’s one year in office has been that of betrayal, shattered dreams and false hope in the real sense. During these 365 days if Captain and his ministers have achieved something, it is looting Punjab, extorting goonda tax, indulging in political vendetta, beating up their opponents, atrocities on dalits, gangwars, electricity cuts, protests, road jams, atrocities on women, sacrilege, damage to acres of crop owing to negligence, ruining parliamentary traditions, humiliating martyrs, bolstering VIP culture and loot by private schools. This is for the first time that a dying farmer has blamed the chief minister or the state government for his misfortune.Captain Amarinder Singh, gave three slogans- ‘karza kurki khatam’, ‘char hafte me nasha khatam’, and ‘ghar-ghar rozgar’. The electorate voted him to power believing these slogans, but the opposite happened. 430 farmers have committed suicide in Congress’ one year rule in the state because ‘karza kurki’ never ended. Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal has failed as the accounts of Punjab government were once frozen. GST has been implemented throughout the country, but why only the Punjab government has delayed the salaries? Even after making a provision in the budget, the smartphones haven’t been provided to the youth.Local bodies’ Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has failed because he did nothing save making huge statements and taunting his political opponents. Leave aside taking care of Municipal corporations, municipalities etc. in the state, or say, the urban populace, he has neglected his own city, Amritsar, as mounds of garbage are seen all over. Sewerage are blocked, roads are damaged, repair of streets is not taking place and in some places the drinking water supply has been contaminated with sewage.SCs and BCs Welfare Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot also failed as students are not getting the funds under Centre-sponsored post-matric scholarship. As promised in the poll manifesto, homeless dalits haven’t been provided homes, each dalit household is awaiting a job, the amount under Shagun scheme is yet to be increased to 51,000, a loan waiver of Rs 50,000 for poor SCs is yet to be materialized, free electricity up to 300 units hasn’t been provided and the job backlog hasn’t been cleared so far. He has been making erroneous statements on serious issues like PLPA, 1900.
