Chandigarh: A demand of a CBI probe into Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala’s attack in May last year has been rejected by Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Demanding a CBI probe, Ranjit Singh and his two supporters Gurpinder Singh and Jasvir Singh had demanded a CBI inquiry into the attack on Ranjit Singh.
The petition alleged that police was working under political pressure in the case and was trying to save the accused in the case and as such, a CBI inquiry be conducted.
The High Court dismissed the petition, stating that they had gone through the whole record of the case and the police investigation did not seem to have any loose deliveries. The police has already submitted a status report and 14 accused have been arrested.
The accused had been brought before the trial court. Allegations of the complicity of Harnam Singh Dhumma and others could not be confirmed despite allegations.
CBI has filed its reply to the High Court and already stated that its workload is high and anyway this was not a fit case for them to investigate into and as such, in this case the government agencies would be able to investigate better.
