AAP set to sack its Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chottepur over cash sting
Chandigarh: Coming up with the reaction against the sting video, AAP leader facing the criticism of his party, Sucha Singh Chhotepur released a statement claiming rumours. He said that he had attained the position of the convenor by his dint hard-work. He added that to justify his position on the current episode he will be holding press conference on 26 Aug.
Chhotepur said that few people inside the party trying to tarnish his image and this was the planned conspiracy to falsely implicate with motive to defame him.
However, the aam aadmi party (AAP) is planning to take a strong action against its Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chottepur after a video surfaced purportedly showing him accepting money from a party volunteer. The party may not only remove him from the post but also expell him from the party.
Punjab AAP’s legal cell chief Himmat Singh Shergill, a close associate of state affairs incharge Sanjay Singh and national organisation building head Durgesh Pathak, is likely to be handed over the reigns of the state unit.
Chottepur, who was sidelined during the ticket distribution exercise, said he accepted the “party fund” but dared the AAP leadership to make the video clip public to prove it was corruption.
A section of AAP leaders, who declined to make the video public, said Chhotepur was likely to be replaced in a day or two as the clip was shown to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. They said Kejriwal was “livid after watching the video”.
The 15-minute clip, said an AAP leader, had Chhotepur promising a government office to the volunteer in lieu of money. “The volunteer then left a packet of Rs 2 lakh with Chhotepur. The video was shown to Kejriwal at the last PAC meet. He refused to meet Chhotepur when he visited Delhi last week,” the leader said.
