Jalandhar:A day after the Jalandhar Rural Police arrested a CID police cop and a teacher, the CIA Staff Jalandhar Rural on Sunday arrested yet another youth with 50 grams of heroin.
The CIA Staff team led by SP (Investigation) Wazir Singh and ASI Nirmal Singh CIA Staff Jalandhar acted on a tip-off and arrested one Rohit Mehra (33), owner of oil depot at Pharala village in Behram in Nawanshahr district.
As per information gathered, Rohit was commuting in his car bearing number PB-08-BE-9602, where he intercepted by the police on Adampur-Bhogpur road. On frisking the youth, the police recovered 50 gram heroin from his pocket.
Notably, the arrest of Rohit Mehra came following the arrest of Pawitar Singh, a police personnel working with the CID Wing of Punjab Police and Amanpreet Singh, a teacher employed in DIPS School at Urban Estate Jalandhar.
The police had recovered 2 kilogram opium and 20 gram heroin from the possession of both Pawitar Singh and Amanpreet Singh on Saturday.
CIA Inspector Harjinder Singh Gill said that the accused Rohit Mehra was already facing two NDPS Act cases. He was out on bail these days. “During investigation Pawitar Singh and Amanpreet shared that other persons were also involved in the supply of drug supply in the region. Acting on specific inputs, the police arrested Rohit Mehra,” he said.
The CIA Inspector said that a case under NDPS Act was registered against the accused while he was taken on police remand for further investigation. “The accused have revealed the names of more persons involved in drugs supply from the region. Raids were on to nab them,” he said.
