Amritsar: A team of municipal corporation’s (MC) health employees raided two service clubs, two restaurants and two beer bars of the city and inspected their kitchens.
It has been revealed that the bar is run by a top police officer, posted here with the help of a BJP councilor of the city
During the searches the employees found 1.5 quintal chicken meat that had become stale and emitted very foul smell.
Huge quantity of cooked fish, that was to be served to the prospective clients, too was taken into custody and was later destroyed by the MC team.
According to sources, in the kitchen of new neenu bar, being run in the heart of the city, dead cockroaches were found in the cooked vegetables.

The team led by Dr Kunwar Ajay, head of the MC’s health team, also consisted of Dr Darshan Kashyap, health inspector, Harjinder Singh Varpal, Vijay Sharma, Maninder Pal, Vijay Gill and Sukhwinder Singh.
It is, however, learnt that when the health team swooped on new neenu bar and detected anomalies in its kitchen, those present there called the top police officer, the proprietor of the bar, on cell phone and asked the visiting MC officials to talk to him.
However,the team after inspecting the cleanliness as well as eatables in the kitchen in the bar, reportedly asked the bar employees to set things right within two days.
The team then raided ritz hotel, where again it found sub standard eatables and meat. The team personnel are learnt to have destroyed the meat in an open.
The team also raided amritsar club and kumar hotel, a renowned hotel situated on the albert road and found stale meat in their kitchen.
