Jalandhar: Three students of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College Jalandhar won three positions in the recently held ‘National Innovation Talent Contest for Polyehcnics-2016’ at Kolkata.
National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research ( NITTTR) had organised project competition for the students of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from all over India at Kolkata on February 21 and 22. It was for the first time that the contest was sponsored by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Mumbai.
Principal Dr Jagroop Singh said that the students of Mehr Chand Polytechnic college bagged first position in Mechanical, second position in Civil Engineering and a special award in Electrical Engineering.
The Principal also informed that Mehr Chand Polytechnic College was the only Institute from all over India which bagged prizes in all the three categories.
Describing about the project, Dr Jagroop said that a four tyre trolley was designed by Mechanical Engineering Deparment under the directions and guidelines of Professor Ashwani Kumar, which can be easily used by the farmers for cutting crops and it bagged 1st position.
Similarly, an environment based home for the poor was prepared by the Civil Engineering Department in which fly ash, rice- husk ash and recycle products were used and bagged second prize.
From Electrical Engineering Department, a framework of door was prepared, which can be used by electromagnetic lock and received special prize. College Principal and the faculty honoured the students.
