The police here have booked a commission agent and two members of his family for duping his brother of Rs. 1.29 crore on the pretext of investing the money in property and his commission business. A case has been registered against the commission agent, his wife and son.
According to available information, Jaswinder Kaur, a resident of Prem Nagar here, in her written complaint to SSP Rajinder Singh state that his husband had died and before his death he had given four cheques, two cheques for Rs 30 lakh each and two for Rs 20 lakh each, in July 2006 after his brother in-law Suba Singh, a commission agent, his wife Charanjit Kaur and their son Bahadur Singh insisted that her husband Gian Singh should invest money in the business of commission agency.
She said that her husband had accumulated this wealth by selling his ancestral land of 25 acres. She further stated that in Sept 2006, Suba again lured her husband into investing Rs 29 lakh in a property in Phagwara and Gian handed over this money to Bahadur and Charanjit in the presence of witnesses, but Suba never gave any property related paper to her husband.
Jaswinder further said that in 2007 when her husband demanded return on his invested money besides proofs of his investments, Suba said there had been no profits and returned four post-dated cheques, two for Rs 30 lakh each and two for Rs 20 lakh each on January 14, 2007. But all cheques got dishonoured when produced in bank, she alleged.
She said that when her husband threatened Suba to move the court, he signed an aggrement to hand over two acres to her husband. But in 2014 after the death of her husband she came to know that the papers of the land Suba had handed over were fake. The SSP had marked an inquiry to DSP(Subdivision) DS Dhillon, during which all charges were proved and registration of case recommended.
